About this role
The Product-Minded Bioinformatician at Kasvu Labs is a pivotal bridge between complex scientific data and intuitive, scalable product solutions. You combine robust technical expertise with a deeply collaborative, user-focused mindset. Skilled in programming with tools such as Python, R, or SQL, and experienced in processing diverse sequencing data – including intricate single-cell workflows – you excel at transforming raw, complex datasets into clear, actionable, and publication-ready visualizations.
Beyond meticulous analysis, you embody a true product mentality: thinking not just about solving today's immediate scientific problem, but critically evaluating how tools, workflows, and outputs can be designed to scale efficiently and serve a broader community of scientists. With an unwavering eye for detail, a commitment to transparency in methodology, and the crucial ability to communicate profound insights to both highly scientific and non-scientific audiences, you will ensure that data becomes a powerful driver of clarity, innovation, and impact across Kasvu's platforms.
Key responsibilities
• Perform advanced bioinformatics analysis on diverse datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics (especially single-cell RNA-seq), proteomics, and other multi-omics data
• Develop and optimize robust, scalable data processing pipelines and analytical workflows
• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and engineers to translate scientific insights and user needs into product features and improvements
• Create compelling, publication-quality data visualizations and reports
• Provide expert bioinformatics support and guidance to internal teams and external partners
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of Kasvu Discovery's platform by identifying opportunities for automation, enhanced usability, and novel analytical capabilities
• Clearly document methodologies, code, and findings to ensure reproducibility and transparency
Required qualifications
• Master's or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
• Extensive experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, including single-cell sequencing workflows
• Strong understanding of statistical methods applied to biological data
• Demonstrated ability to think critically about product development and user experience in a scientific context
• Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Nice to have
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies
• Experience in a remote-first work environment
• Contributions to open-source bioinformatics tools or communities
• A portfolio of data visualizations or analytical projects
You are a curious and meticulous scientist who isn't content with just answering questions, but wants to build the tools that empower others to ask better questions. You possess a rare blend of deep technical skill and a genuine empathy for the end-user. You are a problem-solver who sees beyond the immediate task to the broader impact and scalability of your work. In our remote-first, 4-day work week culture, you are self-motivated, highly collaborative, and committed to delivering excellence while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
